"I was a client of Jeff Kalvelage and State Farm for four years after moving here and a State Farm client for close to 20 years before that. I recently left. My main issue with the Jeff Kalvelage team is service: problems happen and then their team is extremely hard to get ahold of, and to fix an issue. The most recent issue was that we changed a driver in our household (an old au pair left, a new au pair arrived). Somehow during that process, the assistant at Jeff Kalvelage’s office changed the annual mileage driven on the car (which was neither requested nor accurate) and this resulted in a 6-month increase of $1300, which was immediately billed. I have called and emailed the Jeff Kalvelage agency multiple times in an effort to get a refund but they are extremely hard to reach. You can call them and the assistant says “an agent will call you back” – either that doesn’t happen, or they call back one time and if you miss the call they don’t try again. This level of service was unacceptable to me – I’m spending something like $10K a year with them to insure three cars, a house, and an umbrella policy. If you read positive comments talking about how easy they are to work with when getting new policies – sure, they are no doubt very helpful when you are signing up for new business. But when something goes wrong, they go missing. I think they have grown too quickly and added too many inexperienced staff, which has resulted in many more customers but no additional experienced people who can resolve issues when things go wrong. Writing negative public reviews was my last resort but this poor level of service (and errors that cost me over $1000) is unacceptable."

"It had been impossible to get simple things done, or clarity from anyone at this insurance agency. I currently have three renter’s policies for my same address. The person I have talked to multiple times I have had to provide instruction too, and I don’t know anything about insurance! Some of it is just common sense. The most basic things take forever and get done incorrectly. I understand if there are aspects of underwriting etc that take time and need to be consider, but explain that to me as the professionals I am paying, so I can make the right requests and decisions. How can two simple policies be so hard! It is affordable, but the frustration on dealing with the makes me want to pay more just to not deal with it anymore, I previously wrote a great review for an employee here, who helped me after much previous frustration. They seem to no longer work there now."
